How I 5-6x my Etsy sales revenue in 2 months!

How I 5-6x my Etsy sales revenue in 2 months!

If you are new here, my name is Michelle and I am the owner of the Top 0.1% Etsy shop MocksByLittleFeather. I sell trendy and aesthetic mockups that print-on-demand sellers use to sell their products on Etsy and sites like Shopify.

My Etsy journey starts with a POD course. Thanks to Christina's POD course (CU Online) I launched my first POD shop and learned the ins and outs of the Etsy platform. It was during that time that I realized I could also start a mockup shop because of my background in photography. And to keep things short and sweet, that's how MocksByLittleFeather was born.

During my time growing my shops, I've made mistakes and I've learned A LOT about what SEO and strategies are best to grow a successful Etsy shop. I'm going to dive into my journey to 5-6x my Etsy sale revenue and my suggestions for you!

When I first started my mockup shop I was constantly changing my titles, tags, and descriptions. I worried about the fine details like whether to use commas, dashes, line break, or nothing. I believed that figuring out the right one to use held the secret to my shops success.

When I got a 4-star review on a best selling bundle I deleted the best selling listing because I didn't want it to hurt my stores image. Big mistake! I re-listed the bundle and it never reached best seller status. And if you are new to Etsy, a 4-star review is considered "not great" unfortunately, but if you get one... it's not worth deleting a listing over.

I tried Etsy Ads at varying budgets and tracked the data daily. I followed advice on setting your budget to the highest amount possible such as $1,000/day and it didn't change anything for my sales. And it never spent $1000 in a day, it always seemed to be capped at $150/day. According to my data $25 a day got me the best ROI at the time.

I meticulously analyzed my competitors SEO format and would implement my own version of it to see if it would help, it didn't. I'd list new mockups each month to test new set ups, sometimes taking inspo from competitors, and those never did well. I even tried having Ai write my titles, tags, and descriptions in desperation to grow and those never performed well either.

I happened upon an affiliate partnership with the lovely Etsy coach Mandy from 'Simply POD Mandy' who loves and supports my work, for which I am so grateful. She has a special discount code on her YouTube videos and shouts me out now and then. Thanks Mandy! In 2024-2025 this brought in about 10% of my sales revenue. Probably my most successful non Etsy marketing stream to date.

For the first 2+ years of my business, I would change my branding every few months in hopes it was my branding that was causing a lack of sales growth. I don't believe it helped me grow but now that I have not changed my branding in almost 2 years, I do think it has built brand recognition which I am happy about.
And FINALLY, in early 2024 I was able to 5-6x my sales revenue! I was bringing in about 2-3k in revenue and after a shop audit and listing new mockups I felt were trendier, my shop started to grow. In 2 months post shop audit (which was in January) and the newly listed mockups, my shop started making 5-6x more rev each month. I had hit a dream revenue point.

I honestly can't tell you 100% which one of the two changes made my sales grow but I believe it was a combo. I listed some mockups that aligned with my potential customer base more AND I implemented an ad strategy recommended in the shop audit. The ad strategy was to advertise my higher priced products only. I had previously been advertising every listing in my shop.

I believe it was a combo because I implemented the ad strategy on my second mockup shop at the time and it did not have the same result. So what I gathered from that was the right product + an ad strategy could help you grow.

After that initial growth, it sustained itself for about 2 years. In the beginning of this year, 2026, the real people mockup space took a 70% hit in sales numbers across the top 20 mockup shops. Myself and my fellow mockup seller friends believe its due to Ai. I'm working on ways to pivot my marketing strategies and pivoting is something entrepreneurs have to do. It will happen to you someday in your business. We adapt!

For me, thats my shopify site and switching to facebook Ads. I am only in my 2nd full month with Shopify but I hope to be able to report back in 6 months to a year with tips on how one can pivot in these ever-changing creative markets.

So thank you for supporting a seller selling 100% human made photography. I really appreciate you! Now lets dive into my selling and SEO suggestions for you.

Your SEO and Growth Tips for selling on Etsy

  1. DO NOT follow Etsy's short title guideline. Instead, use the older tried and true method of titles. Using all 140 characters - thinking about what a potential customer would type in Etsy's search bar.
  2. DO NOT use etsy ads right away! I've stopped using Etsy Ads in my business completely and I don't recommend it when you are starting out. IF you have best selling listings, test ads on the best selling items, if it doesn't give you a good ROI turn them off. You are already getting sales without it.
  3. DO NOT delete listings that are getting sales.
  4. DO NOT implement new etsy strategies too close together. Test new strategies every 6 months if you need too. My top competitors never edit their listings. I used to constantly update my listings, I still did well, but they did better than me.
  5. DO NOT copy other people's work, your originality is what sets you apart. You can hop on a trend, but make it your own somehow. My best selling products are the ones that are most original to me rather than trend inspired.
  6. DO use a comma, dash, and line to separate your keywords in your titles. It doesn't matter which option you use. Customers need to be able to read your titles.
  7. DO put a short version of your title as the first thing in your description.
  8. DO match your title keywords with your tag keywords.
  9. DO put important product info in your listing images AND etsy product description
  10. DO retire listings that haven't sold in a year.
  11. DO list new products frequently (ie. 1-2 designs a week should suffice)
  12. Add new listings at night, for some reason my new listings do better listed at night.
  13. DO continue to work on your craft and improve it. For me that was creating new mockups each month. When a set up was successful I expanded that set up to more POD styles. For POD sellers this could be expanding your best selling POD design to other POD products. Or expanding that design to other niches.
